Diesel Fuel Injection Specialists

Frequently Asked Questions

When should my Injectors to be overhauled?

Injectors wear out over a period of time; signs of worn injectors can include black smoke and poor fuel economy. Under normal circumstance injectors should last up to 100,000 km’s before either the nozzle needs replacing or the whole injector. During that period the distance all depends on the type of injector and the style of driving. Hi Tech Diesel services most brands of injectors within a 24-hour period to get you back on the road as soon as possible.

What does black smoke mean for my car?

Almost all modern diesel vehicles are able to operate without any black smoke at all, but under normal circumstances a diesel should only blow black smoke on initial start up, occasionally under load or when changing gears. If you think your vehicle is blowing black smoke excessively it’s a likely chance there is something wrong. A restriction to the intake of fresh air, worn out injectors, or incorrectly set tappets can all cause this problem. These problems can be diagnosed quickly at Hi Tech Diesel and in most cases can have your car back on the road within a day.

What is a turbocharger?

A turbocharger is an exhaust gas driven supercharger. Exhaust gas from the engine is used to drive a turbine connected by a common shaft to the compressor. The compressor is then used to supply air under pressure to the engine, which combined with the right amount of fuel has the effect of increasing the output of the engine. This increase can vary from 10% too as much as 500%.

Do you service unleaded petrol vehicles as well as diesel?

Absolutely! Our name is Hi Tech Diesel because we started out in the field of diesel injectors and fuel pumps. But all of our mechanics and technicians are fully qualified and adept at carrying out regular servicing on unleaded petrol vehicles. What do you do with my car during a service?

If there are any requirements outside the normal servicing we will call you and advise of our recommendations. If you do not want the extra maintenance items done, we will report them on your invoice as future maintenance requirements. We aim to get you back on the road within 24 hours
